  • Loss tolerance. How does the candidate talk about the work that did not work? With the same specificity as the wins, or only in vague terms?

What to ignore

  • Brand logos. A candidate worked on Nike. They may have produced one ad set inside an agency of 80 people. The logo is not a signal.
  • Vanity metrics divorced from cost. "10M views" without spend is meaningless. Views per dollar matter. Raw views do not.
  • Awards. The Cannes shortlist correlates with budget more than with iteration cadence. Useful as a sanity check, never as a hiring signal.
  • The slide design itself. Beautiful decks are correlated with self-promotion talent, which is a mixed signal at best.
