See all ads on AdLibrary →Scotch & Soda was founded in Amsterdam in 1985. After decades of global DTC and wholesale expansion, it filed for bankruptcy in March 2023. Bluestar Alliance acquired and relaunched it in 2023, but the Dutch entities went bankrupt again in June 2024. The brand continues operating internationally with new store openings and Joe Jonas as brand ambassador. Also searched as Scotch.
Post-relaunch Scotch & Soda campaigns use Joe Jonas's celebrity equity to re-establish brand awareness in new markets. The eclectic, detail-rich design language — multiple prints, textures, and unexpected colour combinations — performs well in visual-first paid formats. View Scotch & Soda ads on AdLibrary.
Meta campaigns focus on seasonal collection launches and new market store openings in Germany and Austria. Brand ambassador content with Joe Jonas generates celebrity reach. DTC conversion ads target premium casual fashion audiences aged 25–45.
Core themes: Amsterdam creative spirit, eclectic styling, and seasonal newness. Post-relaunch copy avoids the bankruptcy narrative, focusing instead on the brand's design heritage and new chapter. Celebrity association with Joe Jonas introduces aspirational lifestyle framing.
Scotch & Soda's dual bankruptcy story is a cautionary tale about wholesale-dependent revenue models and the dangers of over-expansion. Their relaunch under Bluestar demonstrates the residual value of strong brand equity even through financial distress — the IP and visual identity retained enough value to attract investment. Celebrity ambassador strategies can accelerate re-awareness but cannot substitute for operational fundamentals.
